Structural Integration

Structural integration is one of the best adjunctive approaches to chronic muscular pain syndromes and postural dysfunction, emphasizing prevention as well as education. It takes into account the body’s anatomical structure, nervous system, emotional well-being and physical experience – what your body has been through physically over the years. Getting your physical health back on line is a process, Massage Structural Integration gives you a multilevel educational experience that works holistically. Typically, after a thorough assessment you will go through a dynamic hands-on series of ten 90 minute myofascial restructuring and postural education sessions.
Experience the difference – Book Your Consultation today. The 10 sessions are broken into three groups to address various aspects of the body.

How Structural Integration Helps?

Superficial

The first group of sessions (3) will focus on the superficial layers and tissues, loosening up connections that may be restricting movement in the body. These three sessions will focus on the breath and upper body, the feet and legs, and the arms, shoulders and trunk respectively.

Core

The second group of sessions (4) focuses on opening up the core of the body. This will address the deeper musculature and connective tissues which assist in fine motor movement and helps to create a fluid, ease of movement within the body.

Integration

The last group of sessions (3) focuses on the integration of the various parts of the body to create horizontal and vertical balance, pattern reversal, greater transverse movement and healthy joint functionality.

Individual Bodywork Sessions

You can come as required for individual bodywork sessions. These sessions can focus on changes or symptoms that need resolving. At Integrated Health – Integrated Life, we work with you to suit your lifestyle needs.

Key Benefits of Structural Integration:

Although Structural Integration may be effective for pain, or relief of tension, it is recognised that pain and tension are usually the result of an overall pattern of imbalance occurring in your body. Rather than treating the pain or tension “symptom” of this imbalance, we focus on rebalancing your entire body, so that it can exist in an optimal state of balance and grace.

– Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D.

“In Structural Integration, we expect to give a cycle of ten sessions. There is a reason for this. We are not dealing with local problems. We are not dealing with the kind of thing that you can say, “Well, I fixed that, that’s all.” We are dealing with intent to make a body more secure, more adequate within the field of gravity. This requires that muscles be balanced, and need to be balanced around a vertical line. And, when I talk about balancing muscles, I’m talking about balancing the right side against the left side. About balancing the front of the body against the back of the body, and finally, about balancing the innermost muscles against the outermost, the inside against the outside, this is the most important of those balances, and we start from the outside working in, and it takes us ten hours before we can get to the place where we can really balance the outside against the inside.”
